  4. 1) Making Netscape Your Default Browser and E-mail client:
  5.    -------------------------------------------------------
  6.    Installing Prodigy Internet v5 will make Internet Explorer 5
  7.    your default browser.  To make Netscape your default browser
  8.    you need to:
  9.  
  10.    a) launch your Netscape browser
  11.    b) you will be prompted to make this your default browser, answer 
  12.       yes
  13.    c) from the Prodigy Internet orb in the system tray or from
  14.       the Prodigy Internet sign on screen select Setup...
  15.    d) click the Email tab and select 
  16.       "automatically determine what program to use"
  17.    e) then click on the "User Settings" tab
  18.    f) select "Modify User Setting..." 
  19.    g) follow the Easy Configuration instructions
  20.    h) if you are prompted for a POP server enter:  pop.prodigy.net
  21.    i) if you are prompted for an SMTP server enter:  smtp.prodigy.net

  25. 2) Making Outlook Express your Default E-mail client:
  26.    --------------------------------------------------
  27.    If after installing Prodigy Internet v5 Outlook Express 5
  28.    has not been set as your default e-mail client you can set
  29.    it as your default by doing the following:

  31.    a) from the Prodigy Internet orb in the system tray or from
  32.       the Prodigy Internet sign on screen select Setup...
  33.    b) click the Email tab and select 
  34.       "automatically determine what program to use"
  35.    c) then click on the "User Settings" tab
  36.    d) select "Modify User Setting..." 
  37.    e) follow the Easy Configuration instructions
  38.    f) open Internet Explorer 5 and goto the Tools menu
  39.    g) select Internet Options...
  40.    h) select the Programs tab
  41.    i) select Outlook Express as your e-mail program

  44. 3) Upgrading to Internet Explorer 5 and Outlook Express 5:
  45.    -------------------------------------------------------
  46.    In some situations upgrading to Internet Explorer 5 and
  47.    Outlook Express 5 will create what looks like a duplicate
  48.    e-mail account and e-mailbox.  If this occurs simply delete
  49.    the e-mail profile that does not contain any e-mail items.
  50.    To delete the duplicate e-mail account:

  52.      a) Open Outlook Express
  53.      b) Select the Tools menu
  54.      c) Select Accounts
  55.      d) Select Email
  56.      e) Select the account to delete and press the Delete key

  60. 4) Windows NT Minimum System Requirements:
  61.    ---------------------------------------
  62.    The minimum system requirements for Windows NT are:
  63.    - Windows NT 4 service pack 3 or higher
  64.    - Remote Access Service installed
  65.    - Administrator privileges are needed to install and 
  66.      run Prodigy Internet
  67.    - Recommended: Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher

  69. 5) Issues using Netscape v4.5:
  70.    ---------------------------
  71.    If you are using Netscape v4.5 you may receive the following 
  72.    error message:
  73.    "This application uses CTL3D32.DLL, which is not the correct 
  74.    version. This version of CTL3D32.DLL is designed only for 
  75.    Windows NT systems".

  77.    This error is due to the fact that Netscape v4.5 is not an official
  78.    release from Netscape.  To correct this problem go to 
  79.    http://www.netscape.com and download one of the following versions 
  80.    of Netscape:

  101. 6) Registry errors installing IE5:
  102.    -------------------------------
  103.    The installation of IE5 requires a large amount of free 
  104.    space in your registry.  If the install of IE5 begins and
  105.    does not complete with an error stating there is not enough
  106.    registry space, the following should correct this problem.

  109.    Under Windows 95/98 - the registry is allowed to grow
  110.    dynamically as long as there is free disk space.  Freeing up
  111.    disk space will allow the install of IE5 to complete.

  114.    In Windows NT / 2000 the registry has a fixed upper size limit. 
  115.    That limit is configurable via
  116.    "My Computer/Properties/Performance/Virtual Memory/Change".
  117.    Configure the Registry size to be larger and the install of
  118.    IE5 will complete.

  122. 7) NetZip and Netscape Browser Issues:
  123.    -----------------------------------
  124.    NetZip may not work correctly with your version of Netscape.
  125.    Please contact NetZip to ensure it will work properly with your

  132. 8) Changing your default E-mail client:
  133.    ----------------------------------

  135.    Under certain situations, your default E-mail client will be  
  136.    MailLink. To change your default E-mail client:
  137.  
  138.    a) choose "Setup" from either the sign on screen or by right
  139.       clicking on the orb in the system tray 
  140.    b) click on the "Email" tab
  141.    c) select "Use the program I tell you" 
  142.    d) Click on the "..." button to find the E-mail client you would 
  143.       like to have as your deafult
  144.

  146. 9) Netscape 3.x is not recognized when using Windows NT:
  147.    ----------------------------------------------------
  148.  
  149.    If Netscape 3.x is running on a Windows NT machine and Prodigy 
  150.    Internet 5.0 is installed, Netscape is not recognized as the 
  151.    default browser. This is because Netscape does not identify 
  152.    itself correctly in the Windows NT registry. Therefore, Prodigy 
  153.    Internet will install Internet Explorer 5.0 and make that the 
  154.    default browser.
